How is offset measured. Any one know the offset for a 2000 Laser :?:   I do have a valid reason for asking this :)

Cheers John

It's measured in Millimeters. It's the distance from the centre of the rim to where the wheel attaches to the hub. E.g a 0 offset means the plate where the wheel nuts are screwed on is in the dead centre of the wheel. If it was a 200 wide tyre this would be at the 100mm mark from either side of the wheel. Positive offsets place the wheel hub further towards the outside of the car.

This site will have a picture which should make it easier to understand what I mean. I don't know what a laser's standard wheel offset is though offhand.

FYI The offset for the NA8 was -45mm.

It should be stamped on the Laser's standard rims.

Just remember that as rim widths change so do offsets... a +20mm offset on a 6 inch rim is entirely different to a +20 offset on a 8 inch rim for example
