Hi all

Should be getting my Konis back from the recon shop today ready for installation; before installing though what would be the recommend/optimal height setting for the Konis on Kings on an NA 1.6? Before pulling them apart I can recall the rear were set to the middle groove, the front were also set to its middle groove (though the front groove weren't evenly spaced).

Also what dampen should I aim for. What's the best way to set & test, I read somewhere that suggest driving over a dip/drop across the road at recommended speed and set the Konis so that the car maintain control in under 1.5 second. Is this pretty much what I should be doing?.

not exactly 100% sure but if you are talking about yellow konis, I think they only adjust rebound not damping.

Yeah they're Koni Yellow (Sport) only rebound adjustable, no compression adjustment. By dampen I mean adjustment I guess.

They are te ones with the adjustment knob on top aren't they Minh? If they are koni sport(yellow) the adjustment should do both bump and rebound in one I thought? At least thats what I was told when I was looking at them?

They are Tim, the MX5 Koni yellows are ONLY rebound adjustable, I suppose that's how they can still be compliant yet controlled.

Are the kings std height? And the konis have a couple of set seat heights rather then a threaded seat dont they?

The Kings are lowered, same as everyone else with Kings I guess, the Konis have grooves machined on the housing, circlip sits in the groove that sets the ride height, not alot of adjustment but enough to get things right, pretty efficient idea I recon.

I just had a quick measure, on the front from the spring seat to the centre of the eye on the end is about 225mm, thats the same as the height of the std spring seat, I would probably see which one of the grooves puts the spring seat at that height, that way you will be putting the springs at the right height. Whichever groove that works out to be it should be the same on the back?

I think I'll just keep it the way it was. Middle ring all way around.

From memory when Malibu was done. The rears were set on low perch and the fronts on mid perch to achieve a flat stance.

GC roads are smoother than a babies butt, so I have the Konis set to 1 full turn. Runs over variable terrain, I would set to full soft however.

Thanks Jules. I installed the struts last night and notice that I had to go with the highest setting on the front to hold the springs properly on full strut travel, mmm maybe my Kings have sagged a bit?
