Hey spent saturday installing the shocks I bought off ebay. I was expecting the task to take us a few hours but spent some 6 hours.
It wasnt as easy as I'd thought.... and lots of elbow grease. Actually the fact that it rained slowed us down.
The left rear shock is now making a knocking sound over bumps and the front left dash console is squeeking constantly. What do you think is happening?

Well done. Changing your dampers is a good way of getting to know your car.
As Garry said, check that everything is tight. You may find that with the stiffer suspension that the body is now twisting, causing the dash to squeek.

UPDATE
Was driving to work today when the same rear left shock started clunking violently. I thought the wheel was going to fall off.
Luckily I nursed the car to the nearest mechanic and left it for them to sort out.
They said the wheel wasn't on tight. haha... so the wheel was literally gonna fall off. and also some of the bolts werent as tight as should be.
After day surgery and wheel alignment, the clunking is gone and car handles much better. HOWEVER the knocking sound is still there. Hmmmmm?????
Garry I'm sure I replaced the plastic sleeve on all four corners, but even if I missed one, would it make enough difference to cause the knocking sound?

Is everything in the boot tied down properly, ie is the jack held down by the 'T' bolt? Is the battery strapped down. Is there anything floating around.
Is the single nut on top of the shock absorber shaft tight, if not the top of the shock can move up and down, rubbing against the edge of the hole.

Yeah Juffa all in the boot is held down tight. However I did find one lonely plastic sleeve washer on the garage floor. So over the weekend I'm gonna pull the shock out to reinstall the sleeve. I will make sure everything is tight and hope the sound dissapears.
On another note, the car is driving better and better each day as the shock beds. It has to be the one of the best mods you can do to a car
