Suspension Options?

My NA Import has always felt very stiff in the suspension department. I've never drĂven any others so didn't think much of it until I had a wheel alignment done. The mechanic who did the Job had owned one and has worked on many and he said it has the stiffest suspension he's ever seen.
If I push down on the front or rear guard the metal flexes before I can get about 10mm movement.
My question is whether this is normal?
Did they come with optional suspension?
I've had alook and everything looks stock standard {i.e. All the same colour as the under body}

Take it too a Pedders or similar shop that has an on car shock tester.
I have seen many Imports and older low Milage cars with basically seized shocks. This may be what is wrong with yours and the only travel that you get as such is the deflection of the tyre sidewalls.
You may have something unusual shock or spring wise but then you will find out for certain.
Hope this helps.

Poke your head under the guards and see....what colour are the springs and shocks. Unless they're black, it's probably aftermarket. Also, in Japan Bilsteins were factory optional and they have yellow bodies and black springs, but they aren't as hard as you're describing.
