Since a lot of us don't know whats legal & whats not when it comes to wheels & Tyres..... here is a doc I found which has all the states minor wheel & tyre modifications summed up in one document. Since several states have different laws.

this is for info only........don't knock on my door if you get defected.

my own personal interest was to see how different some of the states are to NSW & in what regard.......

Well in Vic, it's a plus 2 rule, which is you can fit a wheel that is no more than 2 inches larger in diameter than the largest wheel size offered in the body shell.

No, it's actually relative to the vehicle/Vin build type. Placard is only useful when being hassled by the boys in blue

you'll find that rule to be a myth.

check section 8

and its basically repeated in the above document.

the great thing about the above doc is that is has all the states combined. I was courious about SA rules & regs since the forum membership has increased heaps in SA. I could'nt find a thing......& stumbeled over the above document. Which tells us to refer to Tasmanian Rules

It's good to know that we can upgrade in NSW as long as the overall wheel/tyre comb diameter isn't more than 15mm above stock.

My car is 205/45/r16 stock and a 17 inch wheel with 205/40/r17 is only 8mm more. 8) 205/45/r17 would just push me over though :|

Hmm, interesting document, I wonder how new it is? The plus 2 rule has been enforced in Vic for as long as I can remember, including being told by Police officers myself a few times when questioned by the side of the road?
I'm pretty sure the Police enforce Vicroads rules, or do they enforce their own when it comes to defects?

if its been around since ever.....has it maybe occured to you that its maybe an old rule.

coppers are not any better than us. They can be misinformed as well. :D

I can't garantee this document is up to date. But i can't find a doc which has the max 2 inch rule.

funny though how 2 docs state the same thing.

:D
