Stud busting

Luckily remembered (dunno how i forgot!) that I busted a wheel stud+nut 3 months ago (!!!!!) when i blew both front tyres hitting a curb at speed (it was wet and i did one of those yanking turns on a roundabout...stupid)

I was thinking, oh yeah, 50-60$

Try around $220! Seems its a #$%# of a thing to do. 1.75 hours ultra tune quoted (so about 200$+part)

Course my dealer said, oh, take an hour, $120 (yeah right, they're just saying that to get me in there i reckon)

oh yeah and... i've probably warped the wheel, driving for 3 months with a half busted stud? (tip of stud is off, nut goes on 3/4 of the way)

SO, if you busted a stud/nut, how much did you pay? (in $ or if you were man enough to do it yourself, effort in hours!)

Note: its very uncommon according to the mechanic. really?!

bob jane over stripped the splines off one of mine awhile ago and whiped their hands of it. i done it my self.

new stud and nut wasnt very pricey at all. cant remeber how much now but id say under/arround $20 for the stud.

i ended up removing the hub and drilling it out from behind. not sure if theres a quicker/easier option. once you know what your doing it wouldnt take 1.5 hours at all as boyracer points out.

Unless im not reading right, changing wheel studs is really easy. done it heaps of times in my car.

Wheel studs are like $6.50 each with a new nut.

www.niceproducts.com.au you can order them from Repco and all the other places.
