Ok, maybe i have been living under a rock for the last 5 years, but I went to a different servo today and they had a digital air pump where you select the pressure and it fills the tyre for you!!!

so you can get it exact every time!!!

just thought i should share cos many people would be very particular about their pressures :)

LOL........yep, BP have had 'em for years mate, altho, there HAS been some heated discussion over their accuracy & you've probly opened another COW........just for the record, i used one friday afternoon & then checked it with my manual pressure gauge & it was spot on 8)

I used one and then went to a defensive driver training day - all 4 were different...

I used a different one and all four were the same...

It depends on how often they are calibrated. Most are not calibrated often.

PS - I haven't seen one of the old ones at a servo in ages...

The ones at the BP's I use all seem to match my guage, so I'm happy

the BP ones also take hot air out, but probably still best to re-pressure on cold tyres for better accuracy

The trick with these things is to always make sure you've got a good seal, since the friggin clips are usually broken from people running over it!

I've found that these digital air pumps have an accuracy of around +/- 1psi so overall they have fairly accurate. Much better than the old style hand pumps which have an accuracy of +/1 5psi if not worse  .

You have been living under a rock - they've had those for at least 5 years.

haha i'm around heidelberg.

must be the servo which i usually go to which doesnt have a digital pump!

also i have only had my car this year, so previous to that there was no need for me to investigate pumping up tyres

The next big thing is they will charge you to pump up your tyres! (Air ain't free y'know). It will happen soon-ish and very quietly.

 been around for years!

One of our Forum members (a kiwi) works on these systems and says they're very accurate.

They already do in the UK. Not all servos have air facilities, and those that do generally charge 20-50p (50c-$1.20) to use it.

The one at the local BP has a real problem with my rear left tyre. Always tries to inflate it to 50psi, then goes \"ERR\" and deflates it to 15 or so
