Just got back from Old Pac.
The good: Hillclimb between brooklyn and pie in the sky is a ripper with these tyres! Had a nice go with a V8 Clubbie, VL turbo and R32GTST. Started from behind (going the opposite direction!) to find myself being at the front by the time we'd got to the esses at the top of the hill.
The bad:I think these are going to be the straw to break the camel's back and leave me without a licence. They just grip and grip and spit you out of corners faster than I thought possible.
Further thoughts:I should have gone sticky sooner!

I tried to get them in 205/45 16" got told not in that size. Like every other decent tyre in that size.

yea same here. Currently i'm hoping they'll be bringing in the 205/40x16. This size is listed on the ozzie market. But not available. So I'm kind of hoping they'll eventually bring this size into aust. But i have no way of telling if this is actually going happen.
I'll give it a few months......then i'll serously consider changing back to 15's

Have you thought about any other brands STM?
Maybe the Kumho's? Or even just going with a normal set of road tyres like a good set of pilots?

I've seriously thought about
Kumho Ecsta SPT
Federal 595RS
Toyo R888
Toyo Proxes T1R .... but not for very long
Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R
Hankook Ventus R-S2
Falken Azenis RT615
The reason I want Rt 615's is because i was over the moon with the RT215's
some others in the above list will have better grip but are too soft & i'm concerend about compounds being affected by too many heat cycles.
these tyres will last me around 18mths. the tyres will not be garaged so the Dunlop DO1's or Toyo R888 will be wasted on me. Or will start deteriorating very quickly after purchase.
In my experience tyres like the DO1 do suffer terribly when used on the road & also need some serious warming up before they start gripping how they should.
I love a hard drive. Tyres like the DO1 need to be dríven insanely to stay in operating temp especially in winter. I may be mad.....but not insane. I think the RT615 offeres a fantastic compromise in grip. wear , how long the compound lasts before it starts to break down and how hard it must be dríven before it reaches operating temp. in my opinion The RT615 is more of an agressive street tyre than a racing tyre. which is what i need.
I'm having a little bit of fun with some ordenary street tyres currently. In the long term.....I'll be happier with something a little more........ naughty

STM - you have made me feel a lot better about my recent purchase of the 615s!
Toyo Proxes T1R .... but not for very long
Why do ya say that? I'm lookin' at a set of those as me road tyres.
