confused NB - thinks it's a duck!
well, it waddles its bum at times...
let me explain, at 30kph or so there is a disconcerting feeling, you'd swear one of the rear wheels was out of round, the arse of the car feels like it's waddling, for want of a better description.
Jacked the car up, they spin as true as an honest roulette. last service records 1,000km ago mention a complaint about front wheel wobble at low speed, remedied by balance and rotation. I'm at a total loss, the car drives great otherwise, and obviously I drove straight through that zone on my test drive last week...
wondering where to start looking?

might be worth gettin a wheel alignment though it may not be the problem they may find what is wrong when they go to do it.
dose it feel like the back end is totaly free of the rest of the car or dose it just wobble..?
dose it stop once speed increase or turn into more of a vibration?
check the wheel nuts are tight too..

PP,
I know exactly what you mean - been there!
5s are really sensitive to wheel balance and I had my OEM NB alloys blanced (ask them not to round the wieghts but be as exact as possible) as well as moving wheels to different positions. With the wheels moved, the shimmy semed to be similar but felt a little different depending on where it was. It always felt like ther rear end was shaking in some way or another though...
Visited the local tyre place, explained the problem and sure enough, two of the rims were slightly bent (bloody potholes) but I could only see the problem, just, on one of the wheels. Could feel the flat spots when the wheels weere spun up though...Took the wheels to a wheel repairer they recommended who trued up the wheels and hey presto, no more bum wiggling.
The NB alloys are really quite light (going lighter in aftermarket rims is not easy and mostly expensive) and as a result I suspect they damage a little easir then other (heavier) wheels.
Best of luck,
T

first thing i thought of too JB...........sounds like a tyre may have popped a couple of belts..........considering that a balance & ROTATION has fixed the front wheel wobble
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often
XMX5 Rogues
Leaving no stone (or wheel) unturned, taking a 3 pronged attack
1. precision alignment today
2. Champiro tyres (rear) and Goodyear Eagles (front) get replaced with Michelin Precedas tomorrow ($50 cashback on set of 4)
3. One rear rim has a tiny flatspot on the inside, booked to be trued on Thursday am.
hopefully all signs of wobble will then be gone

took 2 rims in today, both were identified as having flat spots, bloody expensive to fix at $120 per rim, for $45 more per wheel I can get new aftermarket rims! The 3rd one will go in tomorrow, and they want the rims until Wednesday. One disadvantage of living in a small provincial city is the lack of competition for work like this, only one shop in Tooowoomba does alloy rim straightening.

well, to allow plenty of time for rim repair, and to give me some rims for track days, I've purchased a set of BSA AU122 rims, they look fine, with my old tyres weighed less than the original rims with new tyres

the picture's a bit deceptive, as the outer rim is actually not gold at all.
cheap as chips really, $165 per wheel, with my old rubber fitted and balanced - no wobble either, so that eliminates the bulged tyre theory...

Where did you get those wheels from? I've been looking for something like that...
Got any pics of them on your car?
jonno.
BSA wheels are readily available, Mania has them for $170, but freight adds to the cost. They came in at 0.7 kg lighter than the original rims, but that was with worn rubber as opposed to new, anyway, there is no weight penalty that I can see
