Hey guys i've been searching throught this forum and a couple more and i cant find a direct comparison between the Toyo trampio or T1R against the Hankook R-S2 Z212.

Note these tyres will be a pair only for the front, i've heard all the bad stuff about running different tyres front and rear but i've been doing that for ages now and havent found much wrong with it, plus i want a grippier front compared to the rear. I'll be moving my Firehawk wide oval to the rear and using my Kumo 711's for drift tyres. Also my tyre size is 195-50-15

From my research i figured i'd go with the Hankooks as alot of MX5 drifters in the US recomended them as well as autocrossers from other forums, and they ranked highly in alot of the comparisons i read up on, but when i was calling for prices one mob said that toyo trampio would sh*t all over them and be much cheaper (quote from another store, same name different location, said 178 for the RS2's) to the tune of 115 per corner.

From what i've read the RS2 are better and more comparible to the T1R's so i asked for the T1R's price and they can do 160 per corner with possible negotiations when i go in the store.
But it just seemed like that store was trying to push the toyo range as he kept ranting on about them. Now i figure the T1R's are better than the RS2's and being cheaper they could be a better option, then we have the trampio which i havent heard too much about but do rank lower on toyos list, but their price makes them more attractive - so i would like your opinions - prefferably if you have dríven on any pair of the three.

oh and what about the kumho MX, i've heard that they are good for the money (yet to find quotes). And i've also heard that they dontsuffer from heat cycles ie they get better as they get older, untill they're bald.

if you find a set of kuhmo mx you'll be a lucky bastard. i went in search for them but the have suposedly stoped bringing them in because of the limited sales.

i would have to agree that tyre mobs can be very pushy when selling a particular product. i was in the market for some good street tyers and all they wanted to sell me was falken azenis st 115 at $200 a pop. i persisted did my research and found that kuhmo escta ku31 were reasonable (my first choice was the mx).

when it comes down to it i think that it depends on the shop you go to. they want to sell what ever they specialise in. the bridgstone shop wanted to sell me some potenza g3s, bob jane some perrali p6000. i'd do the research on the net find what you want then go find it here. i also read a few tyre comparos from mags like motor. the only problem you may find is some tyres may not still be stocked in australia (like the mx, but i'd still try and find a set)

Well, i went in search of all the tyres i've heard rave reviews about from the US MX5 drift forum and noone stocks them
So pretty much the only tyre i can get is a toyo, bridgestone, and the Kumho ku31 like you suggested butters.
I want to stay away from the toyo as i've heard they have soft side walls which wont be good once i'm drifting on them (i rotate my rims and use my old tyres as drift tyres) and probably wont help with the nose dive induced understeer i get when goin down the dipper at QR.

Has anyone tried Federal 595 tyres?? The tyre dude said they are cheap sh*t and didnt really want to sell em to me, instead suggested the KU31 were better, but basically said i should get Falken azenis.
I looked at the fedaral website and it looks like they have a 595, 595RS, and a 595SS. RS? being a semi slick, anyone tried these? COmparible to azenis?
