Yoki C-Drives for our other car????

Postby 4sfed5 » Mon May 08, 2006 4:42 pm

Ive thought about c-drives for our Mondeo (205/55/16) as it currently has GT radial HPZ's on which are very nasty in terms of road noise and vibration through the car...
Ive been thinking about the c- drive for it....
any opinions on them??
Can anyone think of a tyre of comparible price(NZ$190) that is better in terms of long wear and good NVH.

:? I've got those tyres and they don't seem too noisy to me. Although being a soft-top, there's no real way to decrease road noise! :)

IF you do, wear them in for serveral hundred kms, maybe even a thousand. I crashed my last car with them on but they were only one day old and I wasn't familiar with them and they were greasy as all s%!t. People that have let them wear well and truely in have given OK reports for them though.

The C-Drive's a good tyre. Probably not a great tyre though.
As good as the Michelin Pilots I was using before.
Bevan is right, I had to tread lightly for about 700km's.

Next tyre change I will probably try another brand. I would have liked a set of Yoko A539's, but nevermind, that's history.

I've got Pirelli Dragons on the Acclaim and they seem OK. I had A539's on the same car and it stuck really well. They didn't last long though.

I have had both C drives and Pilots and would take C drives every time.

I will put them on my \"other\" car when I need new tyres as I think they are very good alround performer.

remember this is for our family wagon so outright performance is behind comfort and low NVH.(oh and price)

Its hard to compare as im running T1-R's on my MX

Still reckon that they would be fine,I intend replacing the Michelins on my Megane with C drive when I need to.They are quiet and ride well.

I've had Yokohama C-Drives on both my 98' Corolla Seca and now my MX-5...I am very happy with them...good grip for their value, and are very very good tyres in the wet, which is half the reason why I bought them (my good friend and suspension guy recommened them for the little mx5). A very happy customer and great bang for buck.

i also have the C-Drives on the MX-5 and my BMW and the dry grip is great and wet weather grip is excellent.
They will have low road noise because they use the AVS db decibel technology( i have the yokohama pamphlet infront of me :P ).
But as everyone else has said, dont expect to much in the first 700kms, they will feel like they are under inflated.

Very good tyre for longevity, and wet handling.

As has been said, let them scrub in for ~500km or more before pushing them.

25000km on my car and maybe 60% tread left still. (But then I got 60000km from a set of A539's)

How do the C-drives compare to the A539's? I've used A539's on my mx for a while (T-1S's before that) and I rate them very highly. I'm due for new rears soon and I would like to get tyres as good or better than the A539's.

Anyone have any recommendations?

A539's were superceded by the c-drives.

Dry grip is the same(AWESOME)
But wet weather grip has greatly improved (on the c-drives)

I have C-drives on an Accord Euro. They are great, well at least better then the OEM Dunlop SP Sports 2050. Offers lots of grip even on such a big and heavy car.

I have heard that the C-drives have softer side walls than the A539's....not sure if that's a confirmed fact.

Depends on whether you get the model with the reinforced sidewalls (204/45-16 for example)
