I treated the new rotors pretty gently for maybe 20 k's, then did a few big stops. They were smoking hard after 6 or so aggressive slow downs - maybe I overdid it a bit..?
DIdn't replace the pads (although I have a new set in the garage) as they were 50% worn. I noticed when I pulled them off that the backing plates weren't fitted - the caliper piston is pressing straight into the back of the pad.
Is this a big issue? I assume the backing plate helps spread the load a little? Where can I get new plates from?
