Pirelli Nero Tyres

Does anyone have any experience with the Pirelli P-Zero Neros?

I can get them for just a little more than the Yokohama A539s. I know the A539s have an almost cult-like following here, but I am always willing to consider alternatives.

i'm only going on what my tyre dealers tell me adam, but they all reckon the P zeros are a good tyre, & from what i've handled in my deliveries they look & feel good, very strong sidewall & agressive tread pattern :)

got 'em, love 'em! Be careful though, the Nero's were superceded by the Rosso's which I believe are quite inferior, so if your dealer has some they could be qute old stock. Let me know how much he's quoting - I might want some more.... 8)

I did not get exact prices, but my local JAX indicated $270ish a rim. The A539s are around $240.

This is for a 215/40-16.

Bigdog, got some news for you - the Rosso model is not available in the same sizes as the Nero, much like the C-Drive/A539 they may be keeping the Nero on to fill the 'odd' (read small) sizes.

yoko a539s become a very below average tyre once they start wearing

what originally is a great wet and dry, grippy tyre slowly dissapears away

noise also becomes an issue

Great Tyre......I run them on my Audi TT Quattro and they are fantastic.
I have used Yok's, Dunlops and Goodyear which which worn very quickly.
The TT is really heavy on Fronts and the Nero's just take it + they have a realatively low wear rating (220) about they same as the Falken 615's so there soft.......but wear great.

Grip and feel are superior to the mentioned others as well.

Thanks

I had them and HATED them... far too noisy, wore out too fast (were gone after 7k) and didn't girp in the wet well at all except in their peak period.

I have put michellin pilot sports on and while the grip in the dry might not be as good they seem to be wearing much better and will last much better and are much nicer in the dry... but i do give the rubber a bit of a going over.

the pirellis are W rated whereas the a539s are V rated

since the nb mx5s are fitted with 83W rated tyres, tyre guys arn't meant to fit lower speed V rated tyres
