Tyre wear

Hi guys,

I've got a set of GSD3's on my 5 that are 10k old now. I used CTZoom's wheel alignment specs initially. I've noticed that they've started slipping a bit over the last month or so and I presume they need rotating and another alignment. Is it normal for it to drift/screech so much after only 10k? Drifting is fun and all but I still prefer maximum grip. How many k's should I get out of a set of these with 50/50 normal/spirited driving? I'm thinking I might go the yokohama's next time..

rotate 'em every 10 kudos, & keep a regular eye on pressures, if they're screeching, they may be low on air..........or you're over driving 'em

my last allingment lasted 2 laps around wakefield.
then again in my earlie years as a MX5 driver.....i did'n change the wheel allingment for 40k.

if its wrong....get it checked. if one wheel squeals more than another.....i'd be doing it anyway.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think I'll get them rotated and aligned when I do my next service in a few thousand k's. Funny thing happened last night tho - took a large sweeping round about a bit quick, lots of understeer, managed a full 180 was pretty funny tho - car slid out so slowly and controllably that I was able to guide it around avoiding the curve. Thankfully the road was dead at that time - would have been embarassing to say the least
First time I've ever lost it like that on a public road (now DECA.. well thats a different story)

managed a 180' with understeer? hmmm sounds like you gave it too much lock and or it grabbed some traction and snapped over on you. kinda like the watertower @ winton hehe

last night was greasy as - had it sideways onto the westgate freeway - at 45km/h and about 40% throttle, but i have cheesecutter tyres

as the man says - check your pressures, less pressure makes em squirm and squeal...

Yeah - got my terminology wrong - was obviously oversteer (and not understeer) that bit my ass. I really want to get out on the track sometime and learn from you guys tho - I feel like I've about hit my limit driving semi-safely on the street and some good instruction on the track is where its at.. Couldn't stop grinning after it happened tho - just shook my head, drove home and laughed my ass off for about 15 minutes - I love this car

the only thing i don't like about motorsport is that i didnt discover it 20 years earlier.

over the years i have learned the hard way that there is generally a thin line between laughing ass off @ wild and close experience, and calling for towtruck/ambulance.

honestly though - if you want to bring it on the track, do so - there are plenty people in the club will help you do it and you have the added advantage of no trees, no mr plod and his SS commodore with the hidden blue lights and no pedestrians to skittle. weve all dríven hard on the road, but nothing like on the track. Anyone who thinks they have dríven an earth shatteringly fast run somewhere on the road should go and look @ their tyres - are they melting, with beads of rubber stuck to them? If not, you haven't dríven as hard as you do on the track.
