I'm in the same position... My tyres won't be able to handle waiting another couple of months so I might have to get the Yoko C-Drives as they do cater for the 14"

Interesting, how do the C-drives rate and how much?

My parents have C-drives on their Accord Euro. I use to take that around the twisties a lot and they were really good! More of a cruising luxury/comfort tyre than a sports tyre, but the compound is good.

I remember getting 205/55R16's for around $200 or so, so they are relatively well priced.

Best price I got quoted for C-Drives was at Bob Janes and they were going for $135 per corner fitted/balanced for the 14\"

Thanks for that. Could be tyre pressures? I found the GIII's pretty damn good on the track considering. Once I found the right pressure they were rock solid for 20 mins straight. And only about 1.5 seconds off the semi slicks. On the road however the R888s kick butt, even better in the wet than GIII's.

tyre pressure could be a factor yes. i haven't really played with pressure a lot. just set to 30 cold and leave it t that.

manga blue had the same issues with his c drives and went to re001's i think, and found a couple of seconds a lap at phillip island from memory.. ask him for his thoughts.

When I had C-Drives I just couldn't stay with the guys on GIIIs. On a corner like the sweeper at Winton I would follow a guy in, take the same line at the same speed and watch him just drive away from me. When I put on Adrenalins it was pretty clear that nobody else on street tyres had as much grip.

I'd say GIIIs are your best choice for street 14s if you go to the track, unless you can find Proxes R888s and are willing to accept the dark side of R-specs.

Nevretheless the C-drives are still a very good street tyre: quiet, good grip wet and dry, predictable, very good wear.

Hmm, interesting responses on the C drives. GIII's won't cut it either, too expensive these days. Looks like the dark side it is then, again. Hope they haven't gone up in price too.

Fatty - Tyre pressures are hugely important.

Another RE001 review

Type - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001
Size - 195/50/R15
Price - $130/tyre (Total Tyre Service, Oakleigh)
Dry grip - 4/5 . Much better grip than my 205/45R16 GSD3's. Not giving it 5/5 until I try these on track, but around my local twisties, these have really impressed me.
Wet grip - 5/5 . 10x better than GSD3. No big problems, even with a little bit of spirited driving in the wet :)
Tyre life - 220 treadwear rating, so I presume these will not last as long as the GSD3, or even C-drives, but for the price and amount of grip, it's not worth worrying about.
Road noise - Low to none.

argh. I got quoted $220 per corner for RE001 at Kmart tyre and auto fitted. Any idea how much total tyre service costs for 205/45/16?

Just got RE001's today...

Type - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001
Size - 195/50/R15
Price - $112/tyre with NRMA discount (Jobsons, Kingsford)
Dry grip - 4/5. But they are brand new so it's hard to tell.
Wet grip - n/a
Tyre life - n/a
Road noise - Not much to speak of.

These are a huge step forward compared to the Nankangs the previously owner had on. Better grip, quieter and they even ride a lot better. Very happy wit my choice so far!

BUMP!

Does anyone have PP2s on factory 16s? 205/45r16?

Looking at approx $200 from what I've seen in this thread (15s are ~$170; 17s are ~$240)... Reports? Are these still the bees knees? (AJ - I'm not asking you because I already know your opinion  )

The GIII's are on their way out now aren't they?

I remembered a thread on here a few months ago where the Bridgestone guys were planning on releasing the adrenalins for the 14" but that isn't happening until August :?

I plan to have the GIII's fitted within 2 weeks. So far they look like they are still available and that is here in WA. Priced at $146ea so far.....
