Generally better to maintain open dialogue - that way we can remind Silvia he needs new tyres, & he can remind us there's nothing wrong with his tyres being in their 9th year. :lol:

I think the issue has been somewhat deflated :oops:

. I had said if "santa was kind I might consider a change" and blow me down but there's an ad on tv saying they'd beat any price on Kumho. So I roll into KMart and the man says $130 for KU 39's. What's a guy to do? I tested them , asking what they thought of mine and of course they said they're fine (till I said they were a bit over use-by) . Anyway all tyres are KU 39 now , the new ones just 2 months old . Wet day slides are a bit more controlled now I'll admit, but the deed is done and everyone concerned can now relax and enjoy xmas and the new year.........cheers :beer:

This thread has prompted me to consult my log book.
The results are in.

OEM B/Stone RE050a's replaced at 41,000klms. Grin factor. HUGE
Replacement S001's have travelled 27,000klms. If I get 40,000klms out of them I will be pleased (and I will have a HUGER GRIN), the thing with these tyres is the smell that they generate after a quick run up Tunnel Hill or across the Limestone-Molloy Rd.
Heck! sometimes I have to wash the rubber from the inner guards.

Get Driving and wear this lot out before their time is up.
Life is too short.

Fiddle with your tyre pressures, a couple of extra psi in the rears will make it easier to induce controllable oversteer without losing grip.
Start with the recommended pressures, use the same section of road and write everything down (even your thoughts).
Have fun and write me when you can smell the rubber.

P.S. Purchase a tyre pressure gauge and a pump, the investment will more than pay for itself over the life of one set of tyres.
