The two threads are interrelated, and in a way, I wished that sailaholic had posted that article here rather than have another thread (though I understand why he did it).

I don't disagree that in a bingle, suspension is likely to be damage - what I'm trying to get at is $1000 worth of damage vs $5000 worth of damage.

I've seen cars with minor suspension damage, and a broken rim...one big chunk, like a quarter of it gone (not like Hjt's which was really a catastrophic failure). That was basically a pull out the bent suspension bits and replace. Compare that to my personal experience which was "putty and respray the rim, and send the car to the engineer (not crash repairer) to fix"

I fail to see how you can do $5000 damage to the suspension. got 24K gold plated diamond encrusted ohlins fitted or something?

Arms, steering rack, CV joints, shock bent, etc. It was a 6 month old VTi Civic back in 1994.

Project r, glad you can see where I was coming from now.

Apu, I very nearly did put it in the same thread but thought it might muddy the waters too much. Probably should have put a link in.

Maybe the moderators can put an editors note on the first post with a link to light vs stiff?
