If the pad material is too thick the quickest way to remove the material is find some nice rough broom finished concrete and start rubbing the pad on it. About 5-10 minutes work and you will have removed enough material to get the thickness down to the 14mm as specified. It won't hurt the pad, I used to have to do this with the Hawk Pads I used to use in my old race car and without access to a mill, this was the easiest and quickest way to to the job.
