Keep an eye out for someone selling stock SE suspension, has bilstein dampers and mazdaspeed springs. Lower and better controlled than stock, they generally go for around $400 to $450.
Supreme Blue NB8B, 1:16.98 at Wakefield when stock, but it's not stock any more...

I have tried and fitted a few systems best all\round cheap set up Agx adjustable and king lowered progressive springs. Good ride and nice track setup about $1000 depending where you get them.
Best price no object Ohlins dfv about $2900 from Steve Cramer totally transforms the car ride like a BMW corners like a race car. There are lots of coilvers at cheap prices but I would not bother unless you can try the out in some one elses car.
