If your after a high performance tyre, you could go a lot worse than Dunlop Direzza Star Specs
Been running these for a while, as daily driver tyres on my SE, on 15s.
They are Excellent in Wet and in the Dry.
With a rating of 200 utqg they wont last forever, but the grip and steering response is terrific.

I bought mine from T Rack.
This size would be good for 17s

For what it's worth I run KUMHO KU36 on both NA and NB

Just put 4 new ones on the NB at $175 each being 205-50-15, and as for the ones I took off, fronts were still 60-65% and rears 'pretty low'. I must say these tyres had done 16,000km on road and 325 track laps at Lakeside & QR so impressed with the wear rate. [NB runs quite a bit of toe-in on the rear that accelerated the wear on rears]

Supplier for me is Option 1 Garage, Hamilton, Brisbane

Ok It's been a awhile since I have started this thread..

Finally made up my mine on the tyres and also because they are on a special deal.

Ordered a set of RE002s in 205/40/17 on special deal with Bridgestone buy 3 get 4th free deal. To be fitted tomorrow.
It worked out to be around $189 per corner. So it is cheaper than what I have been quoted on the same tyres a few weeks back.

I'm looking forward to the GRIP..

Will need to visit spinning wheel after that..

Nice, I'll be interested to see how the RE002's are, I'm on my second set of RE001's on my MX5 (204/45-16) and I'm thinking of RE002 next time...

Doesn't mean it's the same.

The NB was the new NA, while from the same base, it is a different car to live with.

Good article on the RE002s here: http://www.carsales.com.au/news/2011/sports/bridgestone-launches-new-performance-tyres-24740

Seems like they addressed the wet weather problems.

Yes, I understand that, I'd like to know how they fare, so that I may factor that into my decision as to what tyres to get next time. I have michelin pilot sport 3 on the other car, and if the RE002 doesn't reach the levels of the RE001, I may just put PS3's on the MX5...

205-45-16 TOYO EXTENSA HP TYRES *BRAND NEW* BETTER THEN KUMHO
MADE IN USA / UNIDIRECTIONAL TREAD / GREAT DRY+WET GRIP

I was going to get a set of KU31's in 16" for the NB but is there a better Toyo choice maybe for "fast street" driving and good wet handling ?

FYI, The TOYO "EXTENSA HP" is not sold Australia by the distributor of Toyo brand tyres in Australia and is not something I would recommend for an MX5. It is desgined for long life, ride comfort and low noise rather than performance.

Thanks Steve.....and of course there are sellers of Kumho that are cheaper than anyone else but don't get their supply from the distributor either...
