Have you considered Federal FZ201's in 20/50/15?

Yes, poor choice of words. Some are imported officially by a licensed dealer/importer, and some are bought from places like tire rack and sold on.
Either way I'm incorrect as jdmyard is an official hankook dealer.
Good price for a set of decent tyres.

205s go quicker on an 8" rim.
225's go quicker on a 9" rim. Many are running 245's on 11" rims.

To each his own. I just moved a set of 205/50R15s from medium weight 7" rims to ultralight (3.8Kg) 6.5" rims. Down 5kmh on max speed on the straights because of an engine miss but still knocked another 0.5 secs off the Wakefield lap record. Barely detectable increase in tyre roll more than compensated for by improved compliance and grip. Don't believe everything you read from people who sell wheels.NitroDann wrote:205s go quicker on an 8" rim.

Yokohame suggests a rim width of 8.5-10.0"
For 205/50/15 Federal suggest a 5.5 - 7.5" rim this supports manga_blue's post.

Re: What 225/45/15 options in Australia?
Yokohama also recommend 6.0-8.0" for 225/50R15s. I've run those 225s on 7" +35 rims. They fit in the guards and I love the way the tyres move on the rims to give you a cat-like compliance on bumpy tracks. Very, very grippy but I just don't have enough power to compensate for the gearing increase. I'm occasionally tempted to go to a 4.7 Kia diff with 225s because 2nd hand 225s are cheap and widely available.

Getting off topic, but all my rims are 6.5" or 7" hence I stick to 205/50/15 tyres.

Z222 = RS3.
Very good street/track type tyre (similar to AD08R perhaps?) but not a full-on R-spec like the NT01.

Re: What 225/45/15 options in Australia?
Several seconds slower on a 90 second track than R888s and probs many seconds slower than NT01.
Less unpleasant than R888s on the road though. Also extremely progressive on the track. Less grip from lap 2.5 on,and even more progressive.
Overall, a good step up from a road tyre in a 205, but not an R spec.

UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)
