Yeah but i see some NCs that have had after-market, usually Aluminium fitted.

What JBT is saying is that some people have more money than sense. MX-5s in AU come with a brace as standard equipment, some EU and US models don't.

Mazda in their newly released "Special Edition" :roll: have painted it a different colour than black. Obviously this makes it work better. :lol:

Forget the brace, it’s bling nothing more. There’s not one top line NC racing in AU using an after-market brace. If they worked better than the stock ones, this is where you’d find them fitted. You’d be better off putting your money away for another set of shocks.

Do you know where headers for an NC can be sourced in Aus ? The ones from Il or Good-win dont have the fitting for OS sensor so what is done to the sensor that is on the stock manifold as the ECU will receive false readings if it is not connected. Thanks

Fact is the GWR header is the go.
Bungs need to be welded onto the mipipe before and after the ct in the midpipe to stop CEL appearing.
Wires need to be extended to the new position.
I'm having the bungs installed tomorrow and got O2 extensions from Goodwin with the header.

There IS a replacement header available with a cat and bung as part of it but I'll need to chase up the supplier...it's very expensive.

Yeah the GWR is by far the less expensive option even with freight on top. How long did you wait for freight from Goodwin?
Let me know please if troublefree instal, assume you left stock midpipe on, I hear headers fit midpipe despite small difference in diameter.

Shipping from San Diego to Sydney takes 7-8 days door to door.

Thanks mate, yes I have emailed Brian several times in regard to buying some items. Cost of stuff in Aus. is exhorbitant eg Roadster Q from Brian is about AUD$700- inc. freight but same from MX5mania in Qld is AUD$1100- plus freight so buying off-shore is definately cost effective.

If you're keeping the standard dampers then an aftermarket brace won't help you much other than providing bling :)

Not that bling's a bad thing, I love my red ILM strut brace. :mrgreen:

I know damnit I was too late.. I did pick up the springs though! i would've grabbed everything if I could.
I should see them arrive end of next week. I'm still toying with getting the Tokico's, I've got the funds I just havn't commited to them yet.

Thanks for the notes too CB, a good suggestion regarding the boot trim.
Crikey I had no idea the spring rates were so different from the BC's vs normal springs re. eibach.
Does anyone know what the rates of stock springs coupled with the LE bilsteins are? I imagine they'd be different from non LE mx's.

I notice that you now have Cosworth SC fitted. What exhaust system do you now have on?

Having the GWR headers and Roadster Q exhaust (kept my own headers) for the last three months, I love it. I can believe the improved dyno findings reported elsewhere on the forum and I love the sound. Not to harsh for a 50 something driving through the burbs. Not excessively droney on long trips. The tacho just seems to move faster from 5.0K to 6.5K. No trouble getting the O2 senor bungs on the existing midpipe.

I have Tien springs and adjustable whiteline bars. Adjustables are great; on the firm setting the handing was allover eh place. on soft/medium it is fantastic. My 89 year old Dad has some trouble getting into the lowered car, but when I taught him the Princess Di technique (keep your knees together) he was fine. As I do not do track days, I am happy with handling. Maybe will change the Bilsteins at a later date.

Has anybody got one of the GWR wind deflectors?

How did you/they fit the bungs into the midpipe, is it a matter of just drilling right size hole and welding them in? Where did you source the bungs from?

Same as I had before - custom midpipe and Trust dual-outlet muffler - with the addition of a GWR header.
Combined with the additional air being pushed by the supercharger it is LOUD so I plan to have another resonator fitted.

On the subject of boot trim - because I do a track day on average once a month, I have left the "centre" boot trim out permanently (the bit that sits against the bulkhead between the boot & the roof) which mean I can easily reach around the side-trims to get to the suspension tops.

The GWR header doesnt have fittings for the Oxygen Sensor/s which as normally in the exhaust manifold. What did you do about relocating them?

You can buy the bugs and they were welded in. If I could get under the car I would take a photo!. Should have taken photos when on the hoist.

The wind deflector is the plastic shield between the head rests. You can get bigger ones from GWR.
