Lugcentric or Hubcentric?
I've never run them on any of my cars and I've never had a problem. I'm very particular about the way I support the wheels when I put them on so that it's sitting properly square and doesnt use the nuts to pull it into position though

Lugcentric or Hubcentric?
The car will run well whether you have the rings on or not, providing the wheels are put on properly to begin with.
The risk you run when not using the hub rings is that when you take the car for service, the grease monkey who will rotate your wheels may not be so careful with them and then you run the risk of the studs having to take all the stresses of the wheel.
When you use the rings, a lot of the pressure is put onto the hub, which it is designed for and the studs are not really designed to take all the loads, especially the sideways loads you put on them when cornering in a spirited manner.
There are hub rings made from aluminium and also plastic, and they weigh virtually nothing, just a few grams, so for some peace of mind, I would always put properly fitted hub rings on.
Every wheel and tyre place has a large selection of them, and they cost very little, so do yourself a favour, and go and get a set and put them on.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I am curious to know where you would get hubrings from?

Most tyre shops should be able to get them for you
Just give them the inner and outer diameter you need
for MX5 is a 53mm inner (I think...)

We found this thread via a search, and by my research given some hub rings are made of plastic I can see them doing SFA in taking the load of the car from the wheel studs and nuts.
I don't think we'll be bothering getting any if the aftermarket 15s we end up with have a larger centre bore than the MX5 hub size.

If you're Catholic and went to a Marist or Christian Brothers school then you should get hubcentric, otherwise lugcentric is fine.

That is the most convincing argument in support of hubrings that I have yet seen.
