This is all very interesting to me at the moment, as i'm currently looking at doing pads/rotors now...
What do you guys think of the Ferodo DS2000's? I'm currently tossing up between the DS2000's or Hawk HPS, and was just going to get both front and rear sets.
Perhaps slightly off-topic, does it matter at all if you use cheaper rotors on the rear? I don't intend to change the braking bias on my mx5, so I was thinking some quality DBA standard rotors for the front, and some cheapo's from mx5centre for the rears.
Thoughts?

OK, jokes aside. I'm running Hawk HP+ front and rear, with good rotors on the front and super el cheapos on the rear. The combo works fine. There's not much happening in the rear, even with a fair bit of bias shifted to the back, so the cheapos are good enough for track work on a non-turbo car.

i'm using cheapo discs on the back of my mild turbo car , and even with the nb8b valve giving me more rear bias i have had no problems with them. it always seems to be the fronts that get too hot (rda slotted rotors with hawk hp+), the rears have been fine.

Fatty, you have NA8/NB8A brakes, correct? Does the NB8B biasing valve give more rear bias than the NB8A one (perhaps because ABS can help out)? Or just more than the NA6 one?

Damo; IIRC the NB8B valve has more rear bias than NB8A.

yep, i've got na8/nb8a brakes, same as on your car

yes that is my understanding , as explained to me by matty. apparently each model has progressively more rear bias, altho overall they are all still more biased to the front, just to a lesser degree with each model upgrade. that sounds like double dutch but hopefully you understand what i'm saying!

Thanks Boags & Fatty. I'll need to first get similar pads front to rear and assess but I'm sure that more rear bias would still be welcome because the brakes are no doubt set up conservatively from the factory.
