I assume the Wilwood set-up at its worst (within reason) should be at least as good as the stock brakes at their best.

This is what I was thinking...especially since its not even half an inch in disc diameter

Indeed, I fixed the slider pin seizing issue, fitted some hawk HP+ pads, and a good bleed. Now the car manages peaks of 1.3G under brakes, with averages around the 1G mark...

The SE brakes are actually very good...as Chris said we run the stock brake set up with Hawk Blues...even on treaded tyres we can outbrake most of the cars on the track...same with the green car...I just have the stock NA8 brakes on it...with hawk Blues...

I would not run Hawk Blues on a road car...they are way too aggressive...I would run some of the Hawk HP or one of those...but they are pretty dusty.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

Yea I'll just run HP+...will cost less in the long run. I think its just whatever pads are in the SE at the moment are pretty well stuffed. Previous owner said he'd done a couple of track days in it, and I'm pretty sure on those pads, so he might of put a glaze on them...

Hmm, I don't know.

Previous owner only turned in times in the vicinity of 1:16s around Wakefield on the few occasions he was there, so the SE wasn't really stretched.

Throw a set of pads into her, send off a Club membership application and entry to Wakefield for Sunday week (7th) and come and give it a go.

There's only 3 places that you need to brake, so you might even get away with the current pads. From memory you should be able to beat your old time pretty easily. :D

Perhaps he was braking too much?

I remember when Chris Tonna, Biggles and I started track days. After 25000km and similar number of track days, Chris and I had ~6mm pad left on the front of our cars, Biggles had less than 1mm! Different braking / driving styles use different amount of pad...

Club membership is in the mail, however I'm going to be in Forster for that track day :(

As for beating my old times - that wont be hard. Its amazing what a set of shagged tyres combined with lack of confidence can do haha

Well I have new pads and discs on order (Hawk HP+ and DBA slotted rotors), and just replaced the brake fluid. My gods what a difference just basically bleeding the brakes can give!
