yep, $200 fitted and balanced at Tyre power. The T1R's are $175. Both 205/45/16

Re001's are $210 fitted and balanced. Hmm, probebly leaning towards the bridgestones but still very interested.

well... no standing water to test aquaplaning yet, but grip on damp roads is exceptional - way higher than the T1Rs and PZeros that I have run in the past. I think I'll need a track day to see how high their limits are. Tread blocks feel really soft, so I'm guessing they will wear very quickly, and they are no stiffer than the T1Rs - I'm running 0 toe on the front and can't feel any improvement in turn in, so they probably won't please those looking for ultra sharp steering (but I have never been bothered by this). $196 fitted per tyre at Blairs.

No they are a soft road compound, semi slick construction. The wear rating is 140, compared to 220 for the re001's and 280 for the T1R's.

i have read on club roadster or miata.net that they are actually the same compound as the 888's and that the wear rating is nominal by the manufacturor. the guy claimed he worked with toyo usa in the development of the tyre. not sure how much truth is in it either way they are very very soft for a road tyre. federal rsr is 180

I've read that Toyo initially sent them out with chewing gum tread but they wore way too quickly so they changed the compound.

Either way; Toyo market them as an Ultra High Performance road tyre, NOT a road legal motorsport tyre.

I was told to ignore the wear rating - it is entirely subjective and means very little.

hmm, ok then thanks for that. It seemed very odd that an allrounder tyre would wear at the same rate as something like the R1R. However, one would assume that Bridgestone would have a uniform measurement... or not?

Just to re-cap, you got a set of Toyo R1Rs for less than $200 a corner, fitted. And that was for 16's?

$850 all up for 4 x 205/45x16 fitted, balanced, old tyres disposed of and a very comprehensive wheel alignment. That's why I took the punt rather than spend more on PP2s or Adrenalins. I have a spare set of rims and i figure if they are wearing too fast for daily use I'll swap them over and fit something harder.

I reckon that's a great deal. Any pics of the tyres on the rims?
