Tyres with good rim protection

Postby luzinit » Sun Sep 24, 2017 1:38 pm

Hi all,

Did a search but couldn't find anything useful - what tyres have you guys used that offer both good performance and good rim protection? Wife keeps driving into kerbs... lol, me ranting isn't doing anything so I'll need to look into some preventative measures.

cheers,
Tony

Hi.
You can buy tape or alloy rim protectors on ebay.

The size of the tyres can affect how much the rim sticks out too, even with the same tyres. eg a 205 on a 6" rim has much better rim protection than the exact same 205 tyre on a 8" rim cos the rim edge is 25mm further away from the tyre wall.

AD08r's have a nice protruding rubber flange that has saved my rims more than once.
They are 205 x 50's on 7" rims

Buy some 14in steelies from a Mazda 323.

She can curb them for days on end then.
