Suspension place in Melbourne?

Postby chrisb » Thu May 11, 2017 8:52 pm

Hi,

I have a 2006 NC that has done over 200k.
The suspension feels a bit shot.
I use the car mostly as a daily driver.
Anyone know a decent place in the SE suburbs of Melb to get it fixed?
I'm looking for something middle ground

OK, I've also been told about Revzone in Ringwood, is there any place near Sandown racecourse?

What exactly are you wanting?

The suspension fixed so that it's like it was beforehand?

Or do you want to change parts, lower, stiffer etc?

If you just want it back to how it was, to be honest, any mechanic can do it, since it's likely just worn shocks.
They'll simply install factory, or equivalent, shocks then send it to have a wheel alignment.
It's not a complex job needing a specialist.

If you want to upgrade parts, then it's all about researching what parts to buy that fill your desires, and having a mechanic install them.

As I'm getting it replaced I might as well get something all round better then just stock parts.
The car is newish to me. My desire is to get it better for general driving and the occasional drive through the hills.
Yes top of the line is totally pointless for me, so guess ill get a midrange product from the likes mca and get a mechanic to replace it all,

thanx

I reckon HKS will be right. Standard suspension will get you comfort and handle a run through the hills because thats what all MX-5s deliver. I had an SUV and replaced the rear shockers at affordable cost and the difference was markedly better. For the MX-5 there are probably better units around, and sway bars etc but you then decide what you want to spend. Take a look at some recent posts about getting better handling- on this same page and see what JBT said. Sandown is actually well situated for auto places so you will have plenty of choice. You can always get a quote from Pedders which at the least gets you a quote and report on the suspension- i.e. a peg in the ground.
