Please explain the numbers on my springs

Hey all
I'm over the harsh ride from my coilovers, & I've picked up a set of Bilsteins with standard springs. But I have a set of Mazdaspeed/Eibach springs that I took off the car a few years ago.

I'm going to fit these to the Bilsteins in place of the standard. When they were on the car they were on Tein shocks that were totally shot, but the car sat at a good height (Low but not slammed).

I think they're progressive, but after hours of searching what the numbers mean I've come up with didley-squat.

The numbers on the springs are: 9EP534011 40,98 & 9EP528011 40,98. I'm guessing the first bit is the part number & the 40,98 is the spring rate/progression?

Can someone please explain these to me?

Really? Surely you're just being funny? So there's no numbers that say what rates they are?

yep thats what the numbers will be

the part number, followed by when it was manufactured.

I doubt MS would have made different spring rates in their range

So the only difference is 340 vs 280 in the two codes ... first thought was lbs/in

one will be a number for front and the other for rear

Yeah, kind of figured they were too high for rates as (from memory) the Pro Kit springs I had for my NA were only 140 fronts. Can't recall the rear rates (progressive iirc)

FYI: Eibach make 2 types of springs: Pro-kit and Sportline

The Pro-kit springs are the progressive versions.

I upgraded my Mazda 3 springs to the Eiibach Pros and love them, not harsh at all and eliminate much of the body roll (internet reports suggested the Sportlines were too harsh for DD).

Yeah haha. Heaps funny. Dont ask question next time if you dont like the answers coming.

Next time go look up the parts number in the catalog and you find the spring rates.

Sorry if you took offended mate. I wasn't trying to be a smart arse. I was grateful for the response. I'm just the sort of bloke who likes to be a bit less fucken serious, with a bit of FRIENDLY humour. I'll remember in future.

Do you know if there is a visible difference between the two differing types. Curiosity more than anything. I'd just like to know what I'm putting in.
