Assume you tested them back to back? How much difference in lap times?

Would be great if they updated these tests... http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articl ... es-part-2/

Here's a couple of good articles that talk about AD08R's:
https://www.facebook.com/notes/hollis-r ... 2972476008
https://www.facebook.com/notes/furrin-g ... 5144633438

Unfortunately I don't have personal experience on the AD08R's but I'd be taking them in a flash over the KU36 especially with the 4 for 3 deal!

Here's the quote from the 2014 test:

Kumho was supposed to release a new tire the Ecsta V720, but the Ecsta XS remains one of the cheapest options at least in the smaller sizes. This tire only does one thing very well, dry cornering. My own experience is it needs a lot of rim width to handle well. While generally maligned, it is a fun tire that reminds me a lot of Kumho DOT R-compound, the Ecsta V710, except with floppy sidewalls. It wears well when given enough rim width, but funky wear can happen on narrow wheels. Arguably the worst tire in the wet and/or cold.

Yokohama Advan Neovas tend to be the most expensive tires of all these and subsequently seldom tried. The new AD08R seems to be a very well rounded tire. Along with the Bridgestone, they seem to be better than the others in the wet. They also had the best braking performance in Tire Rack's testing which didn't include the R-S3. Their big weakness seems to be dry cornering grip which is still better than the Bridgestones. The Yokohamas have one of the stiffer sidewalls. In other words these are the polar opposite of Kumho.

Cheers Dan. Unfortunately no updated lap time comparisons. Interesting that they rate the Khumo for dry cornering, which is what most of us are concerned about, and claim the AD08R weakness is dry cornering...

Yeh, that is pretty poorly worded, even if they had track times though those types of evaluations or any individual opinions are subjective and you don't know exactly how it was tested since its subject to so many variables (tyre pressure, we're the tyres shaved to see what they do when they wear, temperatures, driver etc...)

If you want a fast tyre the best thing to do is look at fast guys who drive a similar setup to you and see what they use. When I was buying Semi's for my Evo the choice was pretty obvious to buy either A050's or Z221's since almost every record is set on either of those tyres and that is what the fast guys run (I have Z221's) On my NC I was told by fast guys that A050's and V70A's are the goods so I'll try either of them when I burn out my current NT01's which I only brought because they were just an entry level semi that I'd burn out before I was fast enough to need a better tyre (my PB has come down a couple of seconds and I've arguably got a couple more to go before I 'need' something better).

If you want the fastest tyre and you don't have a class problem that makes you run S tyres, I'd suggest buying a second set of wheels and run semis, you'll keep your race tyres in better condition that way and you don't have to worry about burning out the tyres you need to drive to work.

Even if you do need to run S class tyres you might want a second set of wheels anyway since AD08's or similar tyres are going to likely be illegal to drive on the road well before they are corded and too low to drive on the track particularly around the sidewall (I saw this on the Non-R AD08's I ran on my Evo for the street and my current R-S3's).
