Iv'e just gotta rave! I got my car's alignment done on the weekend and far out what a difference its actually funny how much better the car is just for the alignment. From what i understand more castor was dialed in and a fraction of camber, about -0.6˚car turns in 10 times better holds in the corner and is much more forgiving and overall balance has been improved 10 fold aswell. car is a dd so i didn't go overboard but im Very Happy!
Cant wait to get my good tyres on and unleash the beast!!!!

I had my craptastic Yokohama A.Drives with chunks missing from the shoulder replaced this morning. 3 nights ago I went out and using my phone/GPS pair, had a quick run around some roundabouts to see what lateral G's I was able to get on cold, crap tyres. I had spikes of up to 1.3 G's, usually maintain 0.7 or so through entire roundabouts. Tonight I ran the same route again, but on brand new Federal 595 RSRs, also cold. Maintain 1-1.1 G's through roundabouts, spiking up around 2 G's at some points. Tomorrow, I'm having an alignment done. If it doesn't rain, I'll be doing the same again and seeing the difference

Re: Alignment
Good feeling isn't it dood.
People go years without realising the potential of their vehicle.
It's the cheapest and most effective modification you can make to a car, I'm amazed at how bad so called "professionals" can do it.

What app are you using for that that would of been great to no of as a before and after. My tyres are also shockers, there probably at least 10 years old and im sure they were once made from rubber, now they have turned into wood.
Very excited for you to get the alignment

Had it done this morning, won't have time to test properly til tonight but it already feels more pointy on turn in. The app I use is called Racechrono. It's a free app, but you really need to use an external bluetooth GPS with it for it to be any good. Phone GPS only updates once per second, the Qstarz 818xt GPS I use is 10 times. Forward/rearward G's are calculated by acceleration/deceleration, lateral G's are calculated using the phones internal accelerometer. The map overlay is a bit skewed most of the time, google maps don't fit perfectly to real coordinates. Changing the number of satellites it's connected to makes it move a little bit, which is why the line on these two maps are both showing me cutting the kerb.
Here's the comparison for one of the roundabouts, old tyres on elft side, new tyres on right. Was focusing on corner speed here rather than G's.

That is a very cool app, ill have to give it a try when i get a chance. Cant wait to get my good rubber on - got a near new set of re002's on my rims from my old car in the garage but don't like how they look on the 5 so i'm trying to source a nice set of rims to put them on.
I might just cave as the bolt straight on

Certainly is 80kmh each way, Valley Way in Mt Cotton. Tried it again tonight once the tyres were a bit warmer, maintains 65-70kmh through the whole thing. Very impressed.

Managed 1.9G at QR on the 595RS-R, which are many many heat cycles old/daily drive tyres.
Pretty impressive!

Android and Symbian only, but Harry's Lap Timer on iOS is the one everyone else uses. Has a great reputation, don't think it's free though.
