OK .... following some interesting discussions started in another thread, I'm taking this to the masses in it's own thread...
The discussion began with a question from a member about what sway bar to fit. To me, as a complete mechanical/technical newbie, this seemed a simple enough question. But the various replies made me go searching for more information. As is the norm, the more information I found, the more questions I had and the more I realised how complex this question is to answer with the vast number of variables.
One reply on the other thread created a little contraversy. This was regarding the person's deletion of the rear sway bar with a Torsen Diff fitted - mostly their explanation of the working of the diff and the affect.
So now, curious to find out more, I did some reading online on how a torsen diff works (some of which I'm still trying to fully understand). Having got that far, I am now trying to understand the affects of different strength swaybars on the efficiency of the Torsen Diff.
Now, I know full well that there are many other factors - spring rates, shocks, ride height, car weight, bushes, chassis improvements, wheels, tyres and as one poster mentioned even tyre pressures - and as such this thread will most probably go off on all sorts of interesting tangents and arguments. Thats fine by me, all a learning curve. But putting all other factors aside and trying to keep it in simple terms (if thats possible), how much do various strength swaybars affect the efficient workings of a Torsen diff?
please be gentle ......
