Hubcentric rings vs hubcentric

Hey guys, just a quick question, I was wondering if hubcentric rings were just as good as say a hubcentric alloy wheel? I know that the purpose of a ring is to make it hubcentric however if I had the option to buy hubcentric or non hubcentric which one should I choose?

Given that the non hubcentric + ring would be dearer than the hubcentric.

Hubcentric, for the simple reason that it's metal to metal, made-to-fit with as little tolerance as possible; BUT given the premise that you're not planning to use the wheels on other cars, ie. The centre bore for NA/NB is 54.1mm which is the smallest of the more common sizing.

Really? so you're saying that if you were to get a set of wheels made to custom specs, they would say: "okay mate, 54.1 centre bore will be $200 each, but 62mm centre will be $220"

I don't see the reasoning behind that.

Or do you simply mean that you need spend extra to buy the rings? They're not that expensive.

surprized you have found new rims in 54.2mm centre bore. it's an old size not used nowadays.

Sorry guys, let me clarify, I own an NC with CB 67.1 and theres rims for sale with 73.1 CB, there is also the same rims for sale thats hubcentric but much more expensive than the 73.1 CB.

So what Im asking is hubcentric rings just as good as hubcentric wheels?

Ah then you have less to be concerned about as the 5-stud pattern centers the wheel much better than 4-stud, so depending on the price difference, then just go for the cheaper, larger CB and buy $20 hub rings.

There's a constant debate about hub-centric vs lug-centric that never fails to spring up here at least once every 6 months and it annoys the p!ss out of me when people try to convince others about how it's a waste of time/effort/$$ to use hub rings.

For $20 or less for a set of 4 rings, it's not even academic.

EDIT: hang on.... first you said that hubcentric is cheaper, and now you say that hubcentric is dearer.
