Had an interesting weekend at Sydney Motorsports Park, almost wrote Eastern Creek.
At the start of the day, I was braking at about 80%, as I was learning braking points, corners speeds etc.
The brakes were working smoothly with no build up at all.
As the day went on I started braking harder, and sure eneough I got the build up and stripping of the transfer layer.
See pic.
I have already started the brake cooling project.
Have pulled out the lower plastic shields. Have pulled out the fog lights. That alone looks like it will make a difference as air can get in now.
There is no way I can get air from the front grille, as the the Radiator, Condensor and Intercooler pretty much block it off. Now I just gotta get some flex hose. Have some stuff at work, but its a bit big so may have to pay for hose.

I believe Tony King was having similar issues at the last club round last week.
He has same car modified SE, same discs and same pads! Only difference was he has no inner guard plastic or foglights, so that would promote more airflow. And he is still, getting used to the car so not hammerring like I do.
Starting to look like a bad a combo.
I also was on the Ford Forums and someone else there is having issues to, but with QFM HPX pads and only road driving.
He described it better than me, saying it is like a buzzing feeling.
ie, not like a warped rotor feeling. It feels like a high frequency.
Has anyone ever had this done? Matt from racebrakes mentioned this.
Also does anyone know where to get thermographic paint?
Want to see if the cooling works.

This looks great. What proportion of this result would I get by just removing the foglights, brake shields and wheelarch liners to save my brakes on the track and what would the downsides be on the road?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

You are probably better copying the design, and running your own form of similar set-up. I am under the impression, the airflow would not be the same as aimed ducting. Other aero people could clarify though.

Hi,
I read your post, if you read the Carbotech Website, they do not recommend slotted or drilled discs with there pads, the phote shows the discs are slotted. If you have any further issues with your Carbotch Pads suggest giving us a call we are the Australian Agents. Deckspeed Racing. 02 9773 4333
