Anyone know what wheels these are??

Postby lightyear » Sat Jun 18, 2011 8:50 pm

I got these with an mx5 i bought to use till my nb is finished. They look like watanabe wheels, and they are very light. 12.3kg's with tyre. The 949 15x8's weigh 15.3kg's with toyo r888's.

Have pics of these on your mx5? Does the mark show it is 14"?

I would love to try these on a white NA!

Perfect, Reggie.

Loving the M2 mirrors, the wheels, the location!

Hopefully the Clubman works up to this, too.

I thought they might have been, but as there was no logo or name on them i wasn't sure. Not sure if i will keep them or sell them. If i keep them i would like to put on nice tyres for track work......costs money. Or sell them and use the 15" 6ul wheels - free, but heavier. Decisions.........

I'm assuming your Watanabes are 14", the only fustration of having 14"s are the lack of good selection of tyres. Bridgestone have already ditch the size in their new model R002. It is becoming a niche to own a 14s soon due to the tyre selections. I'm actually tempted to get my next set of rims in 15s now as well.

15" is better for tyre selection for sure.

Any pics on your Malibu?

With the wider sidewall, are you tempted to add a ring of gold colour on that sidewall?

It's not the original yellow, used to be red. Bit rough, but it's actually very good underneath, mechanically and inside. Just the paint and panel work lets it down. As long as it gets me through a few track days.

I will just use the 15x8's till the tyres wear out and put these up for sale. Looks a bit dodgy with the red outers.

The car came with a mazda speed 2 way diff - not in the car. As well as some after market shocks and eibach springs - in car. Other than the radio and the paint, the car is all original.
