NA6 wheel shutter, help?

Postby Carnage » Mon May 09, 2011 5:31 pm

Hi guys, just bought a new set of hp plus pads from the front and got my old dba slotteds machines along with new standard rears. Put them in over the weekend and all was well for about a day. The other night i noticed that when i come down steep drives while turning and use my brakes just gently, there seems to be some sort of shutter and grinding/rubbing noise for a few seconds till i straighten up then it seems to go away. The noise seems to be coming from the front left but not 100% sure. It also happened this morning on the way to work with out even being on a hill but not as bad and it went away quicker as well. The first night it happened i took it all apart and double checked that all the surfaces were even and that everything was sitting correctly, all looked good except one of the clips that sit between the bracket and the pad, it was loose (possibly the problem, need new clips?). Put it all back together, all was fine for twenty mins driving around in different conditions, pulled into my driveway which is were i first heard the noise and it happened again. I am not using any of the springs or backing plates at the moment but from what i have read they are more just for pad noiase reduction but if im wrong tell me. Other things i think it may be is possible the piston is sticking or possibly wheels bearings.
If someone has any ideas or ways to test things, please help. :frown:

Well my brother and i stripped the fronts down again and sanded the hubs and the inside of the rotors and reseated the pads again. This seems to have fixed a lot of the issues. But it still seems quite rough on the front right, there did seem to be some wear on the caliper itself against the top of the rotor. Not sure how its possible though. but overall the major issue is solved.

Did you do the run in proceedure for the HP Plus pads?

First few stops they etch the discs and make some interesting 'noises'. Best fp;;p I find they're noisier than normal pads until they heat up then they're quiet.

Yes i did do the bedding in procedure and i have noticed that they do get quiter after they heat up but after the first issue that i have now seemed to solve im just a bit scetched out at the moment at moises that seem unusual. :P
