Quote to install coilovers (NC)

Postby Zohxoco » Wed Oct 27, 2010 7:10 pm

Hi guys, got some BCs but I don't know my way around a spanner and couldn't contemplate installing them myself. Got a quote from Pedders: $400 to install plus $125 for 4 wheel alignment. This is in Sydney. Not saying it's too much but interested in suggestions in Sydney, places I can go for a good price. I suppose any local mechanic could do it?

I would have thought most mechanics charge around $80 an hour. That's 5 hours work. Seems a bit excessive to me. I'd be asking a local mechanic as they could do it with their eyes shut. Then take it somewhere for a wheel alignment (I just paid $66 at Tyrepower)
Cheers

If you are in Sydney then I would suggest:
IS Motor Racing for coilovers install
Straight around to Stu at Spinning Wheel for a corner balanced alignment.

I wouldn't consider many other places. Neither of them are the cheapest or most expensive around, but both offer exceptional value for money. And both know what they are doing particularly when it comes to MX5s.

Indy will see the car height based on what you supply and keep the right balance front to rear.

Stu will make your NC handle like nothing else.

As per my thread (click signature).

I too will suggest the 2 workshops as CB has.

ISMR coilover install should be approx $250
Spinning Wheels alignment approx $80

Heasman just installed 4 new Eibach springs yesterday for $440.00 including a 4 wheel alignment.(I supplied springs from shox.com)
Its probably about the same amount of work to change coil-overs.
Not cheap by any means, but these guys are pretty good in my opinion.
It took them 3 1/2 hours and was only 10 mins from my work. They are in Sydenham.

FYI, I paid $220 about a year ago to get mine done. YMMV

Yep try Spinning Wheel.
Stu did an alignment for me last week that is better than I've ever had.

Got my BCs installed at IS. The car is so much more fun to drive now :D

Being gentle and waiting for it to settle before I get an alignment.
