Hey guys,
Yes, it's another "what tyre" thread, but I have been researching this for a day and a half already, so now I need some real input. I've just purchased a set of 14x6 SSR Type C's, and I now need tyres for them. I'm looking to spend under $125 per tyre. These tyres will be for spirited street driving, no track days (at least none planned) but I do want high levels of grip, and stiff sidewalls would be great as I've previously had Toyo R1R's with a very soft flexible sidewall and I didn't like that at all. So far I've had a look at:
Bridgestone RE001's in 185/60/14, and I got quoted $111 fitted and balanced.
Falken ZE912's in either 195/45/14, 185/55/14, 185/60/14, or 195/60/14, but I'm not sure what these cost.
Yokohama C-Drive's in 185/60/14 or 195/60/14, but I'm not sure what these cost either.
If you know of any better tyres for this price, please let me know. Also, seeing as these wheels weigh around 3.6kg each, would it be worth looking for lightweight tyres or just the best gripping tyre I can for my budget? And I'm unsure as to whether I should go 185 or 195 if I have the choice, what do you think?
Cheers, Kieren
