Hi Everyone,
I have been having a hard time weighing up the alternatives on offer if I were to change my '98 MX5, and frankly I cant see anything I like. So I am thinking I will keep the car. However, minute stone chips on the bonnet and some other minor paintwork imperfections are lessening the pleasure of ownership at present.
Can anyone recommend a paint shop in Melbourne? I am more than happy to pay a fair and reasonable price but would be prefer to go to a place that has been recommended.
Any suggestions will be welcome, Thanks,
Roger

Go see Dick Richey at The MX-5 Factory in Ringwood, they are the experts in repainting/repairing MX-5's and are a sponsor of the MX-5 club. I've had work done there on both MX-5's I've owned and I highly recommend them.

Thanks very much, ToyMX, just the kind of response I was hoping for. I will try to get over to see them at the end of the week.
Wun911 - was your comment a result of some disagreement with the named business or simply a cautionary word of advice??
Thanks guys,
Roger

Another recommendation for Dick at the MX5 factory. Dick has performed various repairs for me, from rust repair to a new nose and full external re-spray. Cannot fault his work.

painting does not come cheap. I think MX5 are a little more prone to stone damage on account of their low profile. You get em painted and they get damaged again. No probs with Oven Baked Enamel Services ( DR)

Hi Everyone, and thanks for the very helpful replies.
I called to see Dick at MX5Factory/OBES, Ringwood on Friday and received a warm welcome.
We talked at some length about the paintwork and the work required to get it up to scratch and he gave me a verbal quote which seemed to be pretty good, given the nature of his business and the standard of the work I saw being carried out there.
My wife was not so easily convinced and it may be a few days before we can reach a decision.
I am a bit concerned though that once the bodywork is improved it will highlight other shortcomings in the car - the hood will really show its age if stuck atop the gleaming paintwork, and then the seats are similarly starting to show their age.
Suffice to say we need to think a little more about it and check the budget.
Thanks again for the input,
Best wishes,
Roger
