Yeah we dont have springs less unsprung weight
every ounce counts

Well my car with DBA slotted front rotors and hawk HP+ pads, on otherwise stock brakes, with new Bridgestone RE001 tyres managed 1.3G under brakes.

Supreme Blue NB8B, 1:16.98 at Wakefield when stock, but it's not stock any more...

I think the springs are to help separate pads from disc when brake is not apply to reduce squeal? and uneven pad wear?.
For some reason they've ditched the springs in the later MX5s.

As far as pads goes, I'm looking for something that can handle the odd track day as well, sounds like the only options available are either...
- Stock
- QLD Friction Material (A1RM)
- Hawk HP+ / Blues (heard mixed opinion on these, Brian Ferraby recons they're great track pads that's good to the rotors, other recons they harsh)

Very interesting in hearing feedback on QFM

I've heard really good reports with QFM, so I'm sure you wouldn't have any problems with em.
