Hi All


I did a search and couldn't find much.
I went to a skidpan over the weekend and found the car was understeering HEAPS
I have decent tyres (GForce Sports) and agreesive alignment.
So I am considering its either the spring rates or sway bar settings

For both front and rear the sway bars are on hardest settings
The tyres had 34PSI went out and checked during the skidpan and
the car has factory optioned Bilsteins

Any suggestions?

I'm NOT trying to be a smartarse here mate, but it probably has more to do with the way you were driving it than any fault with the car itself....................the QLD club held a motorkhana last saturday & most of us were getting chronic understeer until we modified our driving a bit to counteract it............talk to some experienced guys about pointers for skidpanning/motorkhaning, you'll be surprised with the results....................saturday was the first time I'd ever done a motorkhana in my NC (done it in heaps of other cars over the years) & was getting massive push through on the fronts (top of the range michys) to start with, until i changed my approach angles & worked out how to flick the arse out quickly & neatly without compromising my lines & times.

oh, & try 40 psi next time you do it, makes 'em nice & hard so they break traction easier :mrgreen:

To start off with, as a rule of thumb, the harder one end of the car is, the more it tends to bias that end; ie. harder front = more understeer & vice-versa.

Your car probably understeered on initial turn in when hooking hard around the cones, but did it continue to do this after you've gone around it 1/4 of the way and gave it a jab of the throttle?

I had 4 different people drive the car who have dríven other mx5s and all said that there was something wrong to get so much understeer. I tried all different driving styles and it still persisted with understeer.

Thanks for the advice

What do you suggest it should be at?

Both for front and rear?

was it entry understeer as 1red5 suggested?? this is probably due to the lsd you just put in, try different ways of entering the corner as mentioned.

If it all the way through then, back the front sway off one step at a time untill you get it where you like it.

I tried different ways of entering, even Paul had a drive and said it shouldnt be that bad...

I might back off the front sway
