G'day all. I am a newbie owner with my 1994 Red MX-5 arriving this Thursday. It is my intention to drive this stock vehicle for a while to find out any niggles it may have before I spend heaps on it (after all it is an indulgence as my wife tells me its my third mid-life crisis having bought MG-Bs the last two times). Anyway my query is about what wheels and tyres would people recommend. The body appears to me to be under wheeled with the standard 14s. I will be using it for road use (sometimes spiritidly) with no intention of the track at this stage. I am looking for good all rounders. Would you recommend 15 or 16 inch wheels and if so what tyres. Please keep your suggestions practical as I dont wnat the car to become a money pit. Any other suggested 'must have' modificatison will also be greatfull accepted.
Thanks
Lindsay

Welcome to the obsession LMW.
Depending how much you want to spend, 15" rims are probably the way to go.
Good selection of tyres at resonable prices eg: Bridgestone Re001 $120 each.
There is usually a variety of secondhand rims & tyres for sale on the forum.

15" will weigh less man
If you can fit 14" or 13" FTW
15" = more rubber choice and cheaper rubber...

Is yours a 1.8? Ive got a 1.6 with a 4.1 diff and 16"wheels, and I reckon they are too big for the power/diff ratio Ive got. .
