Adjustable NB Perches

Postby blackster » Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:38 pm

Fat Cat motorsports appears to have developed perches to adjust the ride height on NBs.

I've got threaded NB perches developed and coming in the next two weeks! These will work with the open-end style 3.25\" spring used on the 99-05 and is available as an adjustable spring perch. You can use FCM sleeves on Bilsteins, Konis, or KYB to give you ride height control. For those running MSM (SE) or Hard S Bilstein on your car and loving the ride but hating the look, you can add these to get the height down.

These are truly custom (and take a lot of CNC time to make) so don't expect steals, but they'll serve a need in the community and as the machinist said, they were cool to develop I expect sale price to be about $40USD per NB-style perch. First batch is of 50 or ~12 sets. Photos of the unfinished parts are attached.

EDIT: The final pieces will constrain the springs better than the prototypes shown.

Where were these when I needed them 5 years ago. *sigh*

It'll be interesting to see how they fit. I've lowered my rear spring perches 6mm and there's only about 5mm between the perch and the drive shaft now. Actually I need to be carefull how I orientate the perch otherwise it will rub on the drive shaft.

These things have been around for awhile, one of my mates was making some coin making adjustable coilovers for people welding threaded sleeves onto shocks.

I don't think i'd ever use them on a car like the MX, you buy the MX-5 for its superior handling, why skimp on suspension components.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I see your point, I am wondering about travel of the spring once the perch is installed. Time will tell once the miata.net/MSM user's try them.

I guess as an inexpensive way of making the SE back end sit at the same height as the front end it seems like a good alternative. To do it properly and and improve the current set up, the coin will have to accumulate and go towards TEIN Flex.........
