INterestingly the issue with non-german sourced GSD3 F1s has been circulating the Peugeot/Clio/Astra forums for a couple of years.

BUt you can't tar all asian sourced tyres with the same brush. Michelin Precedas 2 are made in asia (not sure where) and are a great tyre.

To Andrew

It looks like you have had these tyres for a while Andrew :). As I descibed earlier Goodyear initially made the tyres in Germany but later did a bait and switch. This explains why there were some happy customers like yourself and later a lot of unhappy customers like me. The wheels were ballanced and a four wheel alignment was performed when the tyres were put on.

I've got a set of Thai made GSD3 (205/45R16 as well) on my NA6 and I've had no issues. Won't say they are the best tyres around but certainly not to the point where I feel I'm running on concrete. Could be a bad batch you got or maybe suspension/alignment problems.

I have non-standard suspension and at least two alignments a year....could be affecting my overall traction as well.

I still have a set of GSDIII F1 Eagles on my car, and ... I love em. My next tyres wont be the F1's though, as trying to make sure I get german goodies does seem like a hard ask, and just as poloboi said, these discussions about the quality of different make goodyear F1's have been circling around for quite a while now.

My next set of tyres will be advan Nevoa's as they are nothing short of brilliant, and I can easily get them in the size I want in a 205/45R16.

Wun911, everyone has already given you sage advice, and I'd back off from the blanket statements if I were you.
If you asked me about my current goodyears that have done almost 45,000km, have seen a track day, DECA, as well as the usual spanking I give them on dailyu basis, I wouldnt have a bad word to say about them.
Money can't buy Talent, but it can buy Horsepower and sometimes that's enough
