Gettin coilovers

Postby Sheck » Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:09 am

Hey guys, i'm currently in the market for coiovers and am after a little bit of advice.

First of all please dont tell me to get tein ss cause i'm not going there. My budget and time restraints are holding me back from say a tein type HR or something along those levels.

I'm currently looking at some chepo coils; D2, G4, Racing Logic, K-Sport these seem to be all copies of the same thing with some concerning reports of breakage from the D2 range (like two stories i could find on google).
A jap brand KTM is currently developing a set for the MX5 which should be quality but they are not finished yet.

So I can get either the cheapo ones or a set of Aragosta coils second hand from japan, i've been told they are in prefect condition. My only problem is that i wanted spring rates of 8/6 kg/mm (which i can obtain from the import guys for $150) but the Aragosta coils come out with 5/4 kg/mm.
Would putting such different rates affect the shocks control of the new springs too much?? ie valving would be set for softer spring but probably would be more track orientated as most jap coils are..

Cheers for any help guys!
Dave

Ok well i decided to just get the jap ones as they are quality items (3.5k new!!) and i'll be getting the second set of springs also, see how things go.

If anyone is interested in my old shocks (tein type NA coilovers, note these are neither height or damper adjustable) then give me a pm. Price is best offer.

Cheers
Dave
