NC track tyres/wheels advice needed.

Postby atm » Tue Nov 14, 2006 11:46 am

Would like to buy a set of tyres/wheels for track days to suit my NC. Bling is not what i'm after, just light and reasonably cheap.

The car is about 30mm lower on Eibach springs, don't want to increase rolling diameter or go much wider. Rolling guards etc not on the agenda.

I think a set of 16x7 would probably be the best combo for size and tyre pricing / availability. Has anyone been down this road with a NC?

As far as tyres go semi slicks are the plan. Anyone got a recommendation on brand /model. Have a connection with a Dunlop motorsport dealer but happy to look elsewhere as well. Need to be able to use something that is road legal for the sake of fitting up before heading off. A box trailer behind a MX has never been a good look.

standard tyre size is 205/45/17

Find a wheel that's reasonable quality and fits over your brakes and then fit an appropriate tyre. Dunlops and Bridgies work well, Yokies if you must and the others at your own peril! Most semi tyres are actually a little larger than their stated size too - something to consider with rolling diameters.

thanks, pretty sure a set of 16's will fit over brakes, got one lying around somewhere, appreciate the tip on the slight oversize. Even though standard the NC is quite \"rollerskate\" now i've fitted the eibach springs it really is significantly lower.
