Lenso VE Wheels

Postby ZenArcher » Thu Jul 27, 2006 10:07 pm

Does anyone know where the best place is to get the Lenso VE wheels from? Sydney or Canberra places preferable please

Looking at 15 and 16 inch, not sure which as yet. Depends on price etc. If I stay with 15's then I can just transfer my current tyres onto the new rims. If not I am then up for a full set of new tyres, which may not please the minister of finance in the household. Lucky that I am lookng at new wheels in any case seeing that I just put full JDM bodykit on the MX and had it all resprayed at J-Racing here in Canberra. But now the NB rims I have on the car, don't suit the new look with the bodykit. Hence searching for other rims.

Also does anyone know how much the the VE rims weigh?

Also considering the BSA equivalent as well. I weighed these the last time I was at MX5 Mania and they were a little over 5kg in 15inch according to the scales they had on hand and a little over 6kgs in 16 inch. I don't mind the BSA's but prefer a shiny gold rather than the dull gold they have been painted in. Hence I am looking at the VE's as I think they are available in a shiny/brighter gold with hopefully a polished rim.

Are they still available? When I was looking I was told they had been discontinued and there were only a few sets left in 16's.

Don't know about the VE's.

Decided to go with BSA instead, better price. Also you gotta love interest free payments as well.

I thought about 15inch starcorps for a while, but thanks to Andrew I worked out how to photoshop wheels onto my car and the starcorps just didn't look any good with the JDM bodykit I have.

Though for those interested, there is a set of 15 inch Lenso VE's for MX5's on ebay.

Just type in Lenso and you will find it.

Just out of interest ZenArcher, which JDM bodykit did you end up getting?

I don't think there is anything much like it in Australia in a kit form, though it does look similar to a mixture of parts from other bodykits I have seen.

The kit I bought was from MX5 Mania. It was once silver and was on a wrecked imported car. There were some major cracks in the rear bumper section and also some big time scraped through holes in the front as well as several cracks as well. Side skirts were perfect condition.

I had the car resprayed by J-Racing here in Canberra and they repaired, painted and fitted the bodykit as well. Excellent job. Colour is Ford Blaze Red with a mirror gloss black hardtop. With a bit of luck my new wheels will come tomorrow and the exterior will be all finished.

Anyway, bodykit. The closest I have seen the front spoiler is the RB Type 1, but still mine is different to it, but it is the closest likeness. Side skirts - don't know - but they are very smooth and I think blend in nicely so it is not Ricer. Rear bumper incorporates the mudguards as well and has a very slight wide-body look to it when coming up from behind the MX5. It also has a rear red fog light moulded into the rear bumper which I have connected up to work on a switch in my centre console. Great for those foggy Canberra mornings and also the early morning drives to Sydney when the fog is still about. Rear boot spoiler is a Mazda lip spoiler. I would post pics but don't have a host.
