My crappy gold centre caps...

Postby Mexi » Tue Jul 18, 2006 5:46 pm

Hi again,

Have decided that first change I better make is to fix up the difference in colour between the wheel centre cap and the actual wheel. Centre cap is that weird gold colour and just not working for me. Andrew suggested that some others on here had painted them to match and a bit of searching found this:

and

Seems that \"PowerPlus Subaru light silver metallic\" is the go, however I’m not sure if this is for the NA or NB wheels or both. Can anyone that confirm what wheels it’ll work for? A pic of the finished product on a NB wheel would also be great if anyone’s got one handy, of course NA’s are welcome too as that might help someone else out…

Was also thinking about maybe painting them red instead to match the car, but not sure if it’d look too gaudy :? Couldn’t find anything on the Net so has anyone done or seen them done in body colour? If not maybe I’ll buy a spare and give one a go before committing to the full set…

Ideally a new set of wheels would be sweet, but that’ll have to wait awhile

Any surface prep help (was thinking a good scrub then some wax & grease remover) or comments would also be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Shane

Noooooo dont paint them red

I painted the centre caps of my original 15\" with i'm not to sure what colour silver metalic paint and the was only a slight difference in between the wheel and centre cap, one that you could ony notice if someone pointed it out :D

Apart from that how is the beast going :?:

Yes, that paint matches the NB8A wheel centre EXACTLY. I have used this on Malibu sucessfully. There are heaps of pics of the car about. I might even try to find one showing the wheels. :D :D :D

I used Septone \"Wheel Silver\" about $3 at soopercrap, it was a close enough match for me, even had the hammermill finish same as the wheels.

Anyway, any colour silver is a closer match that green....

Hahaha, thanks. That's what Malibu looks like 10 days after a wash. You should see it when it's fresh!

Berowra Heights? Hell you're alraedy 1/2 way here. You don't happen to know Ray Jones do you. He's lives there as well?

Mmm, looks like I'm off to supercheap. Thanks for the reply Jules, Malibu looks so Hot, centre caps look like a great match.

Hopefully I'll be able to get em done some time this weekend, might even take some pics to show the result.

The lil Beast is going fantastic Andrew - Still getting used to her but absolutely love driving it.

Cheers Guys
