Follow up on Tire Comparison - Kumho Ecsta 712
Does anyone know how good they are?

I haven't tried these, but I had the 711's. I paid $115 for them and they were puss compared to the Azenis ST115's I had before that, which were only $30 more. Not sure how the 712's would fair, though their tread pattern is very different to the 711's so they appear to be a different spec., but just a slight change in compound and pattern.

I had the 712s in 205/40-17 and they were quite good. The ones I had featured a UCTQ rating of 280/A/AA, a very good rating for grip.
They are like the KH711 in a manner similar to how ES100 are like the S306. Not very similar.
For the price that they are being offered at for the moment I don't think you could beat them.
Wet grip - very good
Dry Grip - very good
Breakaway - progressive
Noise - OK
The reason that they can be got cheap right now is that they are being replaced with the Kumho KH31. The KH712 is a 5 or 6 year old design.
They are like the KH711 in a manner similar to how ES100 are like the S306. Not very similar.
For the price that they are being offered at for the moment I don't think you could beat them.
