Brake rotor cover things

Postby maxwolfie » Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:31 pm

Hey guys, I'm pretty certain that my brake rotor cover things are causing all the rattling in my car..

Are these safe to remove/bend?

Yeah. They're just stone guards.
Take them off, see if noise goes away, if it doesn't chuck em back on! :) Let us know how you go.

Taking them off is easie.....set of wire cutters.
I believe the wheel bearing needs to be removed to get it off in one Piece.
1 look & you will know.

To remove Stone guards first remove wheel then remove brake caliper
then slip the disc off . take the dust cap off the center of the hub . undo the wheel bearing nut . slip off hub then undo 3 10mm head bolts remove
stone guard assemble in revese order . front wheel bearing torque is
123- 159 ft-lb 167 - 216 Nm should take 1/2 hr per corner
